Johanne Kristjanson grew up along the South Saskatchewan River in Saskatoon, and now spends much of her time along the shores of Lake Winnipeg. She earned a B.A.(Hons.) from the University of Saskatchewan, an M.A. in geography from the University of Guelph and a PhD in environmental studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Throughout her studies Johanne focussed on agri-environmental issues, particularly those relevant to the semi-arid Canadian prairies, and has had a special interest in the connections between agriculture and water. She has taught at various universities across Canada and is now a policy economist with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada based in Winnipeg.
